Track Name: Built to Chill
She entered my night out of focus. I rubbed my eyes but couldn't notice. The crooked the look, the knotted fingers. Her face so sour. How could I leave her?
I bought nice thoughts but exchanged for worse. So now my logic is moving in reverse.
Dogear the chapters that don't speak to you. Maybe these words weren't written to pick and choose?
Oh, the things we do to sleep.
She killed the lights, but I couldn't notice.
Track Name: Radium Girls
It may take a while to cure these radium girls.
Only half-hearted smiles when exposed as child.
The poison tries to eat its way through you.
What we lose for our pay. This job's for nothing.
More abuse. Why we pray. This God's for nothing.
The poison finds its way to the roots.
The price these girls pay 'cause we won't change.
(We don't care.)
Track Name: Tapeworm Diet
Our life ain't that much. I try to magnify every speck of dust to find value in what's shed from us. Maybe I'm bitter like you. A tapeworm who feeds on the things they do to keep you down. Maybe I shouldn't be around. I don't hope for the best. I refuse to waste my breath, asking you to be someone worth more than what they expect. Hopefully it's not true. The way the things they say always seem to resemble a part of you. A view I can't recognize. I follow the strings down the hall shouting, "I don't owe you anything at all." Who says you have to be the same person everyday?
Track Name: Harshing It
Make way for past lives to pass you up
and overtake you.
I guess I don't have a half a mind for the life I left behind me.
I don't want to grow
Into the way you hide inside.
Self-loathing loves you.
Wake up to find you can't deny what you think to be true.
Keep quite. Count the seconds in your family's awkward moments.
Grip tight. I take things you want to hold.
Track Name: Amateur Cartographer
At arms length, we reach out to the place we both miss.
Define a better time.
With maps and legends, we chart courses inches apart to resist
Keeps me away from you.
So maybe I'm not true, but it's too easy to hide inside you.
The lies we share. The masks we don't think about.
The face we wear when no one's around.
It's not for you. It's not for me.
At length we plot two paths. Our love like cartography.
But I try not to think about it. I try not to think.
Track Name: Fifty Shades of Ray
My skin creeps after you dreamt me up.
And, no, I'm not satisfied with how you made me.
Your careless comforts fucked you up.
No, it's just too easy to give into their scheme.
These days blur the same faded bleach stain. All this talk, talk doesn't move me at all. All these days blur the same.
I have to fail twice before I learn to get it right.
How can it be right? I'm not satisfied. I try. Tell me if I'm not a person, so paralyzed.
Know your place and toe the bottom line. Spectate your days and dig out your crippled spine. So paralyzed.
Track Name: On the Spot
Siphon my energy and give up my goals.
With nothing to say to you.
Add up my actions and let me go.
'Cause you're not satisfied until I'm denied.
Track Name: Bruise
Make my bad dreams come and go.
Prop my head up when you console.
My best laid plans will never show.
'Cause there's no one like you, so I pay the toll.
No right to say.
No right to stay.
Stuck with myself. Bruise my head for a while.
I'm failing again.
You think you ought to stay. Someday you'll want to say,
“You never want to grow. You got to find a place.”
Track Name: Deadlifts
From the look on your face, I knew I was given away.
It struck me in the back of the head and left me lying there seeing clearly.
Eliza, what do you need?
Time's up. Ready or not.
I'll never see exactly who you will choose to be.
I want to know.
You have no life of ease. Just try to be who you please.
From dusty picture frames,
I watch their faces stay the same.
Meanwhile grow older, forgetting all their names.
Won't you say why? Time's up, Eliza.
Track Name: Confederate Sugar
Clear my name of all syllables.
Say the word. A picture's heard.
Paper planes, so disposable.
Misheard things you say to me.
You're soft and sweet like a friend.
Static rolls on in like transmissions from the deep end.
Collecting books for empty shelves.
Cracked spines break, speak for themselves.
Clock's hands, they inch so slow when you got to get away.
Maybe tomorrow. They scratch inside your brain.
It follows you around.
With nothing good to say, I repeat it anyway.
I try but barely enough. What you can say to me.
A paper plane folds less than me.
Track Name: Ghostwrite the Whip
Why can't you say what you hope to find?
Go ahead and dig a hole in your right eye.
Lose pace, fall behind, and get out of line.
Deep breath when you cover the words you write:
Keep out!
Better time of day to write the rules for the games we play.
Better time of day to break the rules to the games we play.
Plagiarize my memories. Replace the pain with your daydream. Can you write me better lines on notepad paper that you find? Can you recast the ones who die?
Don't let me be the shit I say. I rewrite my memories.
